COMMUNIQUÉ - 18 MARS 2002 (English summary below) En route vers 2004 chez la famille Amirault On the road towards 2004 with the Amirault family La
famille Amirault est à trois grands pas de plus proche de leur rencontre de famille
pendant le Congrès mondial acadien 2004 avec le lancement de leur logo, nom
officiel et site web. On the road towards 2004 with the Amirault family (March 18, 2002) The Amirault family is three steps closer to their family reunion during the Congrès Mondial Acadien 2004 (World Acadian Congress 2004) with the launching of their logo, official name and Web site. Les descendants de François Amirault (French for The Descendants of François Amirault) is now a registered non-profit organization. The logo was revealed Saturday, March 16, 2002, during an Evening Between Friends in East Pubnico, N.S. The logo consists of a ship's wheel and represents the links of the Amirault family with the sea. The wheel reminds us of the arrival in Acadie of François Amirault dit Tourangeau, the dispersion and the return of the Acadians and the Amirault family, Amirault's scattered throughout the world and the livelihood of many members of the family through the years and even at the present. On the wheel is the name of association. In the middle of the wheel, a stylized acadian flag, the letter A, and the date 2004. The Web site at http://members.accesswave.ca/~amirault2004 contains information of interest to members and potential members. The Web site contains the list of the directors, how to become a member, minutes of meetings, links and soon the genealogy of the Amirault family in North America. The email address is amirault2004@accesswave.ca. To commemorate the launch of the logo and the Web site, a t-shirt with the logo was won by Norma à Paul Amirault and a t-shirt with the homepage of the Web site was won by Norma à Nick Amirault. A hundred people celebrated St. Patrick`s Day listening to Victor Amirault of Yarmouth and his group Vic and the Boys, and performers Louie Amiro, Carl Amirault, Donald d' Eon, and Julien d' Eon from East Pubnico. Those in attendance also had the chance to become members, to buy lottery tickets on a model Cape Islander boat built by Avellin Amirault, to enjoy good food and to get to know each other better. Les
descendants de François Amirault are planning their family reunion on
Sunday, August 8, 2004 in West Pubnico. The membership fee is $10 per person or
$15 for a family living in the same home. |
