Lakehouse

The Lakehouse

The Nowlans spend their summers at "the lakehouse", named by Evan when he was about three years old. The lakehouse is situated on the South Mountain, about 20 minutes from Debby's home town of Kentville in the beautiful Annapolis Valley.

Our cottage started as a one room simple rugged building when I purchased it about 30 years ago. After many renovations, it now includes two bedrooms, a large living room and kitchen area, multipurpose washroom/laundry room, and guesthouse in 2007. It is complete with comforts of home including dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer. It is our summer home. Evan and I spend the summers here and Debby commutes to the city on Monday mornings and back on Friday afternoons. (Not any more now the Debby is retied)

We were lucky when tropical storm "Noel" blew thought (Nov.5/07) to only have one big limb to come down

over our service entrance, with no real damage.

Much of our summer activity centers around boating, and activities at ALYC, our yacht club. Over the last few years we have upgraded our fleet and are extremely fortunate to have a Auzura 15.5 bowrider with a 75 hp Mercury motor. Evan has a Princecraft 12 ft with a 9hp Evinrude pushing it along, and also a GTX SeaDoo We have all taken and completed the Canadian Coast Guard boat operators course in the past year (99), so we are all prepared for the new millennium.
