First The before pictures.

Step 1: Remove your licence plate from your bike and then remove the 2 bolts holding the black plate panel onto the chrome bracket.

Pretty straight forward.

Step 2: Now remove the chrome bracket itself from the bike and set it aside. Hang onto the 2 bolt's you take out of this your gonna need them. My bike only has 1600 km's on it. It's a 2002 and I bought it towards the end of last season so it was only subjected to the elements for about a month before being tucked away for winter. I could hardly believe the rust on the inside of the chrome bracket.

Covered in rust.

Step 3: Take the black plate holder and draw around the edges of your actual plate to get an idea of the extra plastic that you will want to remove

The lines on the plate holder where were going to cut.

Step 4: Take your weapon of choice, hacksaw, dremel tool, or jigsaw and cut away all of the extra material. Use a file or sand paper to smooth out the rough edges and round the corners.

All the excess trimmed away.

Step 5: Now take a ruler and measure the holes on your fender. Mark holes matching the same measurements on the plate holder and drill the 2 holes.

The plate with holes drilled and edges sanded.

Step 6: Re-attach the black plate holder to your motorcyle with the bolts you removed from the chrome bracket and bolt on your licence plate.

The finished product.

Installed on the bike

Now you have yourself an angeled licence plate. It looks a lot nicer in my opinion over the stock setup and it beats paying the $89.99 Cnd, ($59.99 US), for the Fire and Steel angled plate adapter that Kawasaki sells. If you decide you don't like the look you can always put the chrome bracket back on the bike and return it to the stock position. I first got the idea to do this mod from Jim2010 on the VROC forums, he told me that he got the idea from Tweak at 2 Vulcans. This is going to look even better once I have my Corbin Gunfighter seat installed.
